The 1960s

The 1960s saw the rise of Adam West’s unique interpretation of Batman. This version of the Caped Crusader appeared in the first full-length Batman film and across a three season television series.

The first season of the Batman TV series was released in early 1966. Later on that year, the Batman (1966) movie was released. The following two years then saw the release of the show’s second and third seasons. All of these properties are wacky, wild, and, above all, campy when it comes to tone.

Most of the entries in the world of 1960s Batman are pretty independent. Episodes of the show would end by teasing plotlines for the future but there was very little development from episode to episode or within the movie. This means that watching everything in release order may be preferable but that one can also choose to watch them in any order they find desirable.

The 2010s

In 2016 Adam West's Batman returned with the release of two animated movies. These movies are set in the same world as the 1960s television series and movie.

Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders was released in 2016 and Batman vs. Two-Face was released in 2017. Both of these films are animated but Adam West and Burt Ward returned to voice Batman and Robin. The films feature the tone and feeling of Batman in the 1960s.

Like other entries in the 1960s Batman universe, Return of the Caped Crusaders and Batman vs. Two-Face are relatively independent.
