Top 5 DC Comics Covers- May 2018

5. Batman #47 variant by Amanda Connor
Amanda Connor’s take on a Batman/Catwoman date night is cute, creative, and packed full of fun details. Longtime DC fans will spot homages to various costume changes that the heroes and villains of Gotham City have gone through. This is a cover that celebrates DC Comics’ latest romance while also remembering its past.

4. Doomsday Clock #5 by Gary Frank
Gary Frank’s covers have been fantastic in every issue of Doomsday Clock. This one is incredibly simple but conveys a great deal of information and meaning. Even those unfamiliar with the premise of the series can instantly see eerie sense of foreboding that this cover gives off.
3. No Justice #1 by Francis Manapul
The entire No Justice miniseries was a fun and exciting prelude to the new Justice League series. The fun present in the story was matched by Francis Manapul’s wonderful artwork, which was consistently beautiful from beginning to end. All of his covers for No Justice were great but the first one just barely beats out the others. Make sure to see the rest of them right here.
2. Super Sons #16 variant by Dustin Nguyen
The final issue of Super Sons features a beautiful farewell by Dustin Nguyen, who did a number of fantastic looking variant covers for the series. Nguyen’s take on these characters is creative, wholesome, and has tremendous visual appeal. This particular cover also gives a wonderful retrospective of characters and moments from the series, further solidifying it as the perfect endcap to a very entertaining comic.

1. Batgirl #23 variant by Joshua Middleton
With this take on Batgirl, Joshua Middleton proves that sometimes all you need for a breathtaking cover is the title character. This closeup eschews a background entirely and places all of the focus on the Middleton’s incredibly detailed take on Batgirl. It is a comic that looks gorgeous as a cover and works entirely on its own as a piece of art.
