It centers around a unique concept, sets a compelling narrative within this concept, and uses some great characters to explore it. Any fan of animated comic book movies, especially those looking for a darker take on the concept, should watch this one.

Quick Review

Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox is a thrill ride of a movie that is highly enjoyable all the way through. Set mostly within an alternate reality, just learning about this new world is entertaining. In some places, this leads to thoughtful examination of traditional DC concepts, like Batman’s origin story. In other places, it just leads to a brief moment of comedy, like the Bat-plane issue. Either way, the world of this film is interesting and is fun to learn about as the movie progresses.

Alongside this, the film’s central narrative is compelling. It features several heroes on emotional and atypical journeys to save the people they love. It also features villains on dark quests that are nearly as compelling and emotional as the heroes’ journeys. The stellar voice acting then goes on to make all of this even better, as the actors really put some emotion in their work.

However, the biggest draw here is the action. From the very start, this movie excels in creating amazing and visually appealing fight scenes. The animation looks great, flows well, and helps make these fights as energetic as they should be. Meanwhile, creative weapons and more action-focused interpretations of familiar characters give the battles additional gravity. Any fan of action is sure to be right at home in watching this movie.

The only downside, in some ways, is that The Flashpoint Paradox is dark… almost depressingly so. It has more violence, destruction, and death than almost any comic book movie I’ve ever seen. Though most of it suits the movie’s overall theme, some of it does feel like a little overkill. In general, this movie is not for those just looking for a lighthearted superhero flick.

Continuity

Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox does not specifically follow any other movie.

The conclusion of this movie leads directly into Justice League: War.
