Comic Book References
- This entire film is loosely based on Batman Vol. 2 #1-11. These issues reveal that the Court of Owls exists, depict Batman’s first interactions with the Court, and depict the showdown between these two forces. These issues are collected in Batman Vol. 1: The Court of Owls (Review) and Batman Vol. 2: The City of Owls (Review).
- Damian’s interaction with a Talon does not occur during the “Court of Owls” comic storyline. Instead, the relationship between these characters mirrors one Damian develops with “Nobody” in Batman and Robin Vol. 2 #1-7, collected in Batman and Robin Vol. 1: Born to Kill (Review).
- Though the situation surrounding it is different, the apocalyptic vision of Damian’s future appears to be based on a similar vision from Batman Vol. 1 #666, collected in Batman: Batman and Son.
- The Dollmaker’s role in this film appears to be based on the “Supergirl: Day of the Dollmaker” story arc. This arc is detailed across Supergirl Vol. 5 #58-59, collected in Supergirl Vol. 9: Bizarrogirl.
