Overview

Infinity Crusade is a large-scale Marvel event that sees the rise of the Goddess as a potential threat to the entire Marvel Universe. The event is wide in scope and brings in a number of Marvel's Earthly heroes and a number of its cosmic entities. It is also the third event in the "Infinity Trilogy" with Infinity War (Reading Order) and Infinity Gauntlet (Reading Order) preceding it.

The bulk of this event plays out in the main event series, the Warlock and the Infinity Watch series, and the Warlock Chronicles series. These comics, all written by Jim Starlin, provide a complete picture of the event. In addition, there are also a number of tie-in issues which allow readers to see certain pieces of the event from a different viewpoint.

Tie-Ins

The tie-ins to Infinity Crusade fall into one of two categories. These two categories are marked by the titles "Group 1" and "Group 2" in the reading order above. Note, these categories are not official and are simply offered by ComicBookWire as a way to better understand this reading order.

The first group of tie-ins directly relates to the main event. They either build upon the main storyline, deal with major players from this storyline, or reveal otherwise unrevealed information.

The second group of tie-ins is less directly related to the main event. Issues from this group typically focus on a single character and show how they are reacting to the main event or simply show how the main event is having an impact on random heroes.

A detailed description of the tie-in issues from each series can be read here:

Alpha Flight

These issues distantly relate to the main event. They mostly follow an independent Alpha Flight narrative that is moderately impacted by what is going on in Infinity Crusade.

Avengers West Coast

This issue shows the impact of Infinity Crusade #1 on the West Coast Avengers. However, it does not contribute much to the main event.

Cage

This issue shows the impact of Infinity Crusade #2 on Luke Cage's life. However, it does not contribute much to the main event.

Darkhawk

Darkhawk #30 mostly focuses on Darkhawk as an individual. However, Darkhawk #31 focuses on many of the heroes at the conclusion of Infinity Crusade #3.

Deathlok

These issues barely deal with the main event. They simply show the impact of the event on a few characters' lives.

Doctor Strange, Sorcerer Supreme

The first two issues from this series provide glimpses of the Goddess and her forces from Doctor Strange's unique point of view. However, the last issue almost entirely deals with an independent Doctor Strange story.

Iron Man

These issues show the impact of Infinity Crusade #1 on Iron Man. They also offer some additional information about the Goddess.

Marc Spector: Moon Knight

This issue shows some of the events from Web of Spider-Man #104-105 from a different point of view.

Silver Sable and the Wild Pack

These issues have almost nothing to do with the main event. Instead, they mostly focus on some ways in which the peace from Infinity Crusade #3 is impacting the Earth.

Silver Surfer

Silver Surfer #83 and #85 show additional information about the Silver Surfer's sizable role in this event. However, Silver Surfer #84 mostly deals with the Silver Surfer's individual issues and only distantly relates to the main event.

Thor

The majority of these issues highlight main characters from this event. However, the final two mostly focus on setting up the Thor: Blood and Thunder event rather than contributing to this one.

Web of Spider-Man

These issues detail Spider-Man's rather sizable role in the event and also reveal some additional information about the Goddess' forces.

Other

Though listed as a tie-in, Avengers West Coast #97 has almost nothing to do with what is going on in Infinity Crusade.

Terror Inc. #13 is sometimes listed as a tie-in to this event. However, outside of a very brief mention of the Goddess' actions, this issue has almost nothing to do with this event.

Before Reading

Infinity Crusade (Review) is the third event in the "Infinity Trilogy". It directly follows the second event, Infinity War (Reading Order), and the first event, Infinity Gauntlet (Reading Order). Actions taken in these events are further elaborated upon across Warlock and the Infinity Watch #1-17, collected in Infinity Watch Vol. 1. Together, these provide a direct prelude to Infinity Crusade.

After Reading

Infinity Crusade (Review) is the final event in the "Infinity Trilogy" series of events. As such, it does not really have a direct predecessor.

However, the conclusion to this event does spin-off into storylines from several other comics. These include the following, listed in order of relevance:

  • Thor: Blood and Thunder. This crossover event deals with subplots that were built up in several places during Infinity Crusade. These events also share many main characters.
  • Warlock and the Infinity Watch #23-42, collected in Infinity Watch Vol. 2 (Review). These issues follow the members of the Infinity Watch and show what they do after Infinity Crusade.
  • Infinity Abyss, collected in Guardians of the Galaxy: Road to Annihilation Vol. 1 (Review). This event sees writer Jim Starlin continue many plotlines involving Adam Warlock and Thanos.
  • Cosmic Powers (Review). This event is the next major appearance of Thanos.
