Overview

Age of Ultron is a large comic book event centered around a fight against Ultron. The story is kicked off when Ultron attempts to take over the world and is nearly victorious. The rest of the event dives into epic battles and the consequences of time travel.

Age of Ultron is mostly straightforward. The bulk of the event is told through a 10 issue limited series that is set up in one issue of the Avengers series. There are tie-in issues from other comics but none of these are necessary to understand what is taking place throughout this event.

Tie-Ins

Age of Ultron has several tie-ins that expand upon the world of this comic. All of these tie-ins take place during or immediately after the war between Ultron and Marvel's heroes. However, only Avengers Assemble #14AU, The Superior Spider-Man #6AU, Wolverine & the X-Men #27AU, and Age of Ultron #10AI directly deal with what is happening in the main event series. The rest of the tie-ins deal with how other characters are reacting to what is happening in the main event series.

*The events of these comics technically take place before Age of Ultron #1. However, we recommend reading them at this point to preserve the impact of some dramatic reveals in Age of Ultron #1-2.

Before Reading

Age of Ultron mostly stands on its own. The closest thing Age of Ultron has to a prelude is Ultron's appearance in Annihilation: Conquest (Reading Order), which explains his condition at the beginning of this event.

After Reading

Age of Ultron receives an epilogue in Age of Ultron 10A.I., collected in Age of Ultron Companion. This issue serves as a prelude to the Avengers A.I. series, which starts with Avengers A.I. Vol. 1: Human After All.

In addition, fallout from the very last issue of the Age of Ultron event goes on to make changes in other comic series. These include:

• The appearance of Angela in Guardians of the Galaxy #5, collected in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2: Angela (Review).
• A problem in Indestructible Hulk #11-15, collected in Indestructible Hulk Vol. 3: S.M.A.S.H. Time (Review).
• Galactus' role in the Hunger series, collected in Cataclysm: The Ultimates' Last Stand.
