Darth Vader Reading Order/Timeline

This reading order is designed to give a timeline of major storylines featuring Darth Vader throughout the Star Wars comics. It does not encompass every one of his appearances, but is a timeline of the major ones and the stories that affect them.

The continuity details relating to each specific storyline are explained in the “Review” of each storyline. Every “Review” link will provide a detailed continuity breakdown of that story and will explain any reference the story makes to other aspects of the Star Wars Universe. All of this can be found under the “Continuity” section of each link.

Episode IV – Episode V

The Death Star has been destroyed and the events of Star Wars: Episode IV- A New Hope are in the very recent past. This timeline details exactly what happened to Darth Vader in the time period between Star Wars: Episode IV- A New Hope and Star Wars: Episode V- The Empire Strikes Back.

Notes

1. These issues of the Star Wars comic series occur immediately before the Darth Vader series begins. Though they feature interactions that are referenced later on in the series, these interactions are also typically summarized before they are referenced. In terms of exact reading order, Star Wars #4 and Darth Vader #1 appear to take place at the same time.
