Lana Lang Reading Order

This reading order is designed to give an outline of major storylines featuring Lana Lang (sometimes known as Superwoman) throughout DC Comics. It does not encompass every one of her appearances, but is an outline of the major ones and the stories that affect them.

The continuity details relating to each specific storyline are explained in the “Review” of each storyline. Every “Review” link will provide a detailed continuity breakdown of that story and will explain any reference the story makes to other aspects of the DC Universe. All of this can be found under the “Continuity” section of each link.

See our Lana Lang Timeline for summaries of each story arc in this reading order.

New 52

With the beginning of the New 52, the DC Universe’s continuity was restarted. Lana Lang began appearing again in the Action Comics series. She eventually became a major piece of Superman’s life and helped him on numerous occasions.

Notes
  1. Lana plays a very small role in this storyline, since she is a prisoner for most of it. However, she admits some thoughts and expresses some anger that gives readers a greater picture of her character.
  2. Lana is a part of the Superman: Savage Dawn (Review)(Reading Order) event but only plays a very minor role in it. The only reason we have included it here is because it helps deepen her relationship with Superman and John Henry Irons.

Rebirth

The Rebirth era of DC Comics did not start with any major changes in continuity. However, events at the very end of the New 52 era caused Lana's character to undergo several major changes. She steps up to the lead role in the Superwoman series near the beginning of Rebirth.

Notes
  1. This issue shows what Lana is doing immediately after The Final Days of Superman (Review) (Reading Order). It is not incredibly important to her story but does introduce her to the pre-Flashpoint Superman.
  2. These issues introduce Lana to the pre-Flashpoint Lois Lane. They are not essential but are referenced later on in the Superwoman series.
  3. These issues explain a brief period of time between the end of Superwoman Vol. 1: Who Killed Superwoman (Review) and the beginning of Superwoman Vol. 2: Rediscovery (Review). However, Lana is unconscious for these issues so they are definitely not essential to understanding her character.
