Hawkman (Katar Hol) Timeline/Reading Order

This reading order is designed to give a timeline of major Hawkman (Katar Hol) storylines throughout DC Comics. It does not encompass every one of his appearances, but is a timeline of the major ones and the stories that affect them.

The continuity details relating to each specific storyline are explained in the “Review” of each storyline. Every “Review” link will provide a detailed continuity breakdown of that story and will explain any reference the story makes to other aspects of the DC Universe. All of this can be found under the “Continuity” section of each link.

New 52

With the beginning of the New 52, the DC Universe’s continuity was restarted. Kartar Hol was introduced as an archeologist in the Savage Hawkman series and continued to go on adventures until the Death of Hawkman miniseries. This timeline tracks his major appearances from these two points and explains how they connect together.

Green Arrow issues are from the Green Arrow Vol. 5 series.
Deathstroke issues are from the Deathstroke Vol. 2 series.
Justice League of America issues are from the Justice League of America Vol. 3 series.

Notes

1. These two issues form a portion of the "Hawkman: Wanted" storyline. However, they are quickly summed up in The Savage Hawkman #14 so they are not completely necessary if readers desire to skip them.
2. Though Hawkman doesn't appear in Forever Evil (Review) until the very end, the events of Forever Evil (Review) tie in with what is happening in Justice League of America Vol. 2: Survivors of Evil (Review) and influence events going forward.
