Batman: Gothtopia Reading Order

Overview

Batman: Gothtopia (Review) is a DC Comics storyline that sees all of Gotham City twisted into a bright and cheery version of its former self. The event shows how this has changed a number of Gotham City heroes. It also centers around an investigation into this change.

This event is mostly told through three issues of Detective Comics. However, tie-in issues from other series help expand the world in which this event takes place.

Tie-ins Type One

These tie-ins directly relate to what is happening in the Main Event. They focus on the actions of the Main Event's minor characters, which shows the main event from a different angle.

Tie-Ins Type Two

These tie-ins do not have much relation to the Main Event at all. They simply tell the stories of other characters in this world.

Before Reading

The Gothtopia event is almost entirely standalone. Technically, it takes place after Detective Comics #26, also collected in Batman: Gothtopia (Review), but the preceding issue does little to set up this event.

After Reading

Batman: Gothtopia (Review) does not directly lead to any storylines. Technically, the events of Detective Comics #30, collected in Detective Comics: Icarus (Review), take place immediately after this event. However, this event does almost nothing to set up that issue.

However, Gothtopia has a small impact on the Catwoman series. The Catwoman tie-in issues set up a change in her life that is explored more starting in Catwoman #30, collected in Catwoman Vol. 5: Race of Thieves (Review).
