Anton Arcane Reading Order

This reading order is designed to give an outline of major storylines featuring Anton Arcane throughout DC Comics. It may not encompass every one of his appearances, but is an outline of the major ones and the stories that affect them.

The continuity details relating to each specific storyline are explained in the “Review” of each storyline. Every “Review” link will provide a detailed continuity breakdown of that story and will explain any reference the story makes to other aspects of the DC Universe. All of this can be found under the “Continuity” section of each link.

New 52

With the beginning of the New 52, the DC Universe’s continuity was reset. However, some of Anton’s history was preserved in this transition. Though it is unclear to what extent his history was preserved, it is clear that his antagonism toward Swamp Thing and his family ties to Abigail (Reading Order) are still in continuity. Besides this, not much else is known.

Anton Arcane was then reintroduced through the Swamp Thing series. He has a rather large role in the first half of that series and then has a moderate role toward the comic’s end.

Notes
  1. This issue goes over some of Anton Arcane's history with Swamp Thing. It does not actually feature Arcane, outside of flashbacks, but may be helpful in establishing his role later on.
  2. This issue takes place in the alternate future of Futures End (Reading Order). Because of this, it is not completely necessary to the present narrative.

Rebirth

Anton Arcane does not appear in the Rebirth era.
