Peter Jackson denies involvement and interest in upcoming DC films

Upcoming comic book movies are always a spirited topic of discussion. Recently, fans have been speculating over which major Hollywood players will have a role in future DC Comics movies. Rumors popped up suggesting that acclaimed Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson would soon have some involvement in the franchise, a rumor given further credibility when Steven Spielberg announced his involvement in a Blackhawk movie. Now, Peter Jackson has put a stop to these rumors.

In a recent interview with Allocine, a French news outlet, Jackson denied having any plans or interest in assisting with the adaptation of any comic book movie. When asked if his current involvement in the DC Universe he claimed, “I had no discussions about that. I’m not a fan of comics, I’ve never read any, so I’m not particularly interested in adapting one for cinema.” He then went on to further clarify by stating, “I’m not involved in any DC film.” Based on these statements, it seems unlikely that we’ll see a Peter Jackson led DC or Marvel movie anytime soon.

Peter Jackson also clarified that he will not be directing the upcoming Lord of the Rings series, currently being developed by Amazon. Instead, fans can expect Jackson’s next project to hit the silver screen when Mortal Engines is released this December.
