Marv Wolfman and George Pérez’s “History of the DC Universe” is Getting a Reprint
Over 30 years ago, the DC Universe was massively upended as a result of Marv Wolfman and George Pérez’s Crisis on Infinite Earths. In the wake of the multiversal changes this event introduced, the current status of the DC Universe and many of the characters within it was uncertain. Because of this, Marv Wolfman and George Pérez also went on to create a comic designed to explain the history of the new DC Universe.
A hardcover reprint of the History of the DC Universe is currently set for release on June 6, 2023. Currently, the new volume’s solicitation details do not indicate what it will collect. Presumably, it will collect the two main issues of History of the DC Universe and the image that comes with the solicitation indicates that it will come with the beautiful cover by Alex Ross. However, it is unclear if this new version of the book will include some of the bonus material that was included in previous releases.
The rerelease of this collection seems to be timed with the Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths event. This event has a lot of ties back to Crisis on Infinite Earths, which was one of the original “Crisis” events. This means that fans of the new series will have more material to look back on, once Dark Crisis reaches its conclusion.
