How to Read The Boys Comics
The Boys is becoming more and more popular with the advent of Amazon’s live-action take on the comic series. This rise in popularity has left many wondering: “How do I read The Boys comics?” Today, we’re explaining exactly how to approach the comic book series.
Pick a Format
The story of The Boys is told over the course of around 90 comic issues. The easiest way to read all of these comics is through a series of “omnibus” collections (you can find the first one here). These omnibus editions gather around 13 comics each and, thus, gather the entire series over the course of six editions. Readers can also choose to read The Boys through the 90 individual comic issues or through a series of twelve smaller collections. But, unless they can find great deals on these products, this process will likely end up costing more money and produce a slightly more fragmented reading experience.
The next step in the process necessitates a decision: physical or digital. The Boys omnibus collections are available as either paperback or digital collections. The choice here boils down to a simple matter of personal preference, as individual readers prefer individualized reading approaches. However, if readers choose to read the comic digitally, they may be in luck, as the series is all available for free through Hoopla (What is Hoopla?) and is, currently, free through Kindle Unlimited (Kindle Unlimited Membership Plans).
Check the Order
Readers simply picking up the six omnibus editions can rejoice, as they simply need to read these six omnibus editions in sequential order. However, readers buying individual comics or smaller collections may want to check out ComicBookWire’s “The Boys Reading Order” to find out how the various miniseries fit into the main comic book series.
The Future
Right now, a new comic is being added to the world of The Boys. The Boys: Dear Becky is a six-issue miniseries set 12 years after the final issue of The Boys. Currently only a few of these issues are out but interested readers may want to either check these out now or check back in at some point in the future.
