How to Read Paper Girls Comics
Paper Girls is a comic book about growing up, learning about yourself, and an incredible time-travelling adventure. The comic series is completely finished and a live action TV adaptation is on the way at some point in the future. Today we’re exploring exactly how to approach this comic book series.
Pick a Format
The story of Paper Girls is told over the course of 30 comic issues. These comics are available in a few different formats that each have their advantages and disadvantages.
Paper Girls was initially collected across a series of six individual trade paperbacks (you can find the first one here). These are relatively short, with each collecting about five issues of the series. Physical editions of these collections are typically in stock from most online vendors. These trades are also available digitally as well.
The whole series has also been collected across a series of three “Deluxe” editions. These are oversized hardcovers that each collect about ten issues of the series (you can find the first one here). These collections might be less portable, since they are significantly larger, but the larger format gives a better picture of the artwork. Plus, these collections include “exclusive extras” that are not in the paperbacks. These collections are also available digitally.
Finally, the whole series has been collected in a single, large volume. Paper Girls: The Complete Story collects the whole comic but is only available as a paperback and is not available digitally.
So, there are really three choices here: paperbacks, deluxe editions, or the complete collection. Each offers a few positives and negatives that will ultimately boil down to the type of reading experience fans are looking for.
Check the Order
The Paper Girls series is very straightforward and simply requires reading full series in order. This just means progressing through the volumes sequentially. You can check out ComicBookWire’s “Paper Girls Reading Order” but it may not be necessary for most readers.
